IFC Service Events

Make A Difference Day (November) - One of the most encompassing service events held nationwide with volunteers helping the surrounding community. Make A Difference Day is an annual service event that is held on the fourth Saturday of every October. Marquette's Greek Community is involved in this service event year in and year out helping to better the communities that surround Marquette's campus.

Hunger Clean Up (April) - A service event based on Marquette's campaign against hunger and homelessness, as well as making the surrounding community a more beautiful place. Marquette Greek's are involved in this event every year and before beginning their service projects will raise money through friends and family which is given to local social service agencies.

Many Fraternities also host their own service events throughout the year.

SIGMA CHI

Perennial winners of the IFC Philanthropy Award, Sigma Chi takes its philanthropic obligations very seriously. With a mandatory 10 hours of service per brother, the chapter collectively engaged in over 600 service hours this past semesters. Not only are brothers active on service trips such as Mardi Gras to New Orleans or MAP trips to Belize, however many also give within the city of Milwaukee. Whether running during Al's Run, lending a hand at Make a Difference Day, or tutoring at a number of different middle schools around the city, Sigma Chi strives to give back to the community around us.

KAPPA SIGMA

For many years Kappa Sigma has supported the Fisher House Foundation, which is an organization that provides housing and financial support for wounded veterans and their families. Traditionally, Xi-Xi holds a spaghetti dinner each semester that raises around $750-$1000. However, this year Xi-Xi put on a 3-day fundraiser in honor of the 10th anniversary of 9/11 in addition to the Spaghetti Dinner and has raised over $2000 thus far.

TRIANGLE

Triangle's National Philanthropy is Habitat for Humanity. Each semester, the brothers of Triangle here at Marquette get together and volunteer with Habitat for Humanity in Milwaukee. From putting in insulation, to nailing down dry wall, to painting entire houses, you, too, can share some of these awesome experiences with our brothers! If you would like to find out when the next volunteering opportunity is, email Tomas Fandel: tomas.fandel@marquette.edu

SIGMA PHI DELTA

At Sigma Phi Delta we hold two philanthropy events every semester. It is required in our Fraternity that everyone participates in the event. Some events that we have done in the past are ones such as Al’s Run, Habitat for Humanity, cleaning up a child’s daycare center, and in the future we plan to participate in organizing a blood drive. We at Sigma Phi Delta take pride in helping others in need.

DELTA CHI

Delta Chi members donate their time, effort and money to various organizations throughout the year.  We are proud to be affiliated with our official charitable organization, The V Foundation.  The V Foundation, named in honor of former basketball coach and cancer victim Jim Valvano, was chosen because of its dedication to saving lives by helping to find a cure for cancer.  Since 1998, Delta Chi has donated over a quarter million volunteer hours and over a million dollars to The V Foundation.  Our members are required to donate at least 10 volunteer hours each semester in an effort to improve our community.

OMEGA DELTA

Omega Delta is an organization based on an incredible desire to serve our community. At Marquette, the brothers of Omega Delta are involved in several service projects on and off campus. In addition to weekly volunteer opportunities with Campus Kitchen at Marquette, Eta Chapter has been heavily involved in many service organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Community Warehouse, St. Benedict the Moor’s soup kitchen and Growing Power. In the past semester, a new partnership was forged between Omega Delta and Growing Power, a Milwaukee-based organization where rural farming is done in an urban setting in order to grow fresh fruits and vegetables that can be sold to Milwaukee residents at a discount price.
